The March 2024 Kings Bay MOAA Chapter meeting will be on Tuesday, 19 March at The Club at Osprey Cove. The social hour will start at 5:30 followed by the meeting and dinner at 6:30.

The menu for this meeting is your choice of Honey Glazed Chicken or Honey Glazed Salmon.  Both will come with Lemon Herb Rice , Roasted Rainbow Carrots, salad, rolls and butter, and Upside Down Pineapple Cake for dessert.

. The cost of the meal is $30 per person. Payment can be made at the door with credit card, cash or check. Dues may also be paid at the door.

The meeting speaker will be Capt. Juan Hines, Commanding Officer of Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic - SWFTLANT.   Below is his Bio.

  Captain Juan Hines Commanding Officer Strategic Weapons Facility, Atlantic Captain Hines was born in Sanger, California. In May 1999 he graduated from the Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree and commission in the Navy, followed by a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School for liquid metal flow measurement research in June 2006. He has been serving as Commanding Officer since May 2022. Previously, Captain Hines was the Strategic Systems Programs Launcher Subsystem Branch Head (SP22) at the Washington Navy Yard, from November 2019 to April 2022, responsible for OHIO/VANGUARD in service support and COLUMBIA/DREADNOUGHT production. He served as Commanding Officer of Program Management Office Strategic Systems Programs Flight Systems (SPF) from March 2017 to September 2019 and led the strategic realignment of TRIDENT-II (D5LE) missile production from Sunnyvale to Denver and the Florida Space Coast. From October 2015 to March 2017 he was Officer-in-Charge of SPF Detachment Magna where he was responsible for rocket motor development, production, and disposal. Other acquisitions tours at SSP from January 2012 to September 2015 include: oversight of the Navy’s Nuclear Deterrence Mission (SP 00R), Strategic Weapon System Confined Space Projects (SP 201), Missile Systems Deputy (SP27401), and Future Systems Coordinator (SP205A1). His first sea tour was onboard USS MINNEAPOLIS–SAINT PAUL (SSN 708) from November 2000 to May 2003, where he served as division officer during a six month Mediterranean deployment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. From April 2007 to March 2010, Captain Hines served as Strategic Weapons Officer onboard USS LOUISIANA (SSBN 743)(GOLD) during four strategic deterrent patrols, five torpedo test firings, and the flight test of two TRIDENT-II (D5) missiles. During both sea tours, each submarine crew was awarded the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation and Navy Battle Efficiency ‘E’. Ashore, Captain Hines was the Submarine Exercise Planner for Naval Forces Central Command from June 2003 to June 2004 where he directed planning for the largest undersea warfare exercise in the theater. From April 2010 to December 2011, he supported SSBN training and flight test operations in SP 205. While at SSP in 2014, he transferred from submarine duty to the engineering duty officer community. His service decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards). Captain Hines resides in Camden County, GA. He enjoys trail running, brewing beer, and Sunday afternoon baseball.

Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay is a base of the United States Navy, east coast home to the Ohio-class submarines, located adjacent to the town of St. Marys in Camden County, Georgia.

The Kings Bay Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the veterans earned entitlements and to maintaining a strong national defense. We play an active role in proposed legislation affecting the career force, the retired community, and veterans of the uniformed services.
