NOW HEAR THIS!   NOW HEAR THIS!

This month we will again be meeting at the Osprey River Club. The Board understands that this is not an optimum location for the long term; however, it was certainly adequate for our February meeting and much closer for many of you than the Submarine Museum. While we are waiting to see what happens with the Osprey Club, we are looking at other venues as well.

This month's meeting will be on Tuesday, March 17th at the Osprey River Club. Since there is no bar, you will need to bring your own beverages - adult or otherwise. Dinner does include bottled water, lemonade or sweet tea, but if you want anything other than that you will need to bring your own. There will be plastic cups and ice.

The social hour will start at 5:30 (again this is BYOB) followed by the meeting and dinner at 6:30. The cost of the meal is $30 per person. Payment can be made at the door with credit card, cash or check.

Dues for 2026 may also be paid at the door. Dues this year are $35. For the first time since the chapter was formed we have had to raise the dues in order to cover things such as the increased cost of paying for our speaker's meals and administrative costs. Your dues also help fund the various military related organizations we support annually, including the Camden County High School NJROTC whose senior instructor is the speaker this month.

Dinner will be a buffet catered by Master Chief Brimley with a choice of Roasted Chicken and Sliced Beef. There will be a garden salad, garlic mashed potatoes, seasoned green beans and dinner rolls along with a dessert selection.

Please RSVP to Joe Lodmell at kbmoaadinner@gmail.com before next noon Friday, March 13th with the number of people attending.

The speaker for this meeting is LtCol Stephen Banta (SSNI at Camden County High School NJROTC unit)

LtCol (Ret) Stephen Banta was born and raised in rural Wisconsin (Driftless Area).  After graduating from Viroqua HS in 1981 he enlisted in the United States Army.  As an infantryman in the 82nd ABN Div he participated in training throughout the United States and several foreign countries.  In 1983 he participated in Operation Urgent Fury, the liberation of the island of Grenade.  In 1985 he was honorably discharged as a SGT.  In 1990 he graduated from NC State University with a BA in Political Science and was commissioned a 2nd Lt in the USMC.  His primary MOS was Armor & MAG TF Officer.  Duty Assignments include; 2nd Marine Div, 4th Marine Div, US Joint Force Cmd,&  MCRD Parris Island.  LtCol Banta retired from USMC in 2009 and have been the Senior Naval Science Instructor at CCHS NJROTC from 2009 until 2026. He is married to the former Cindy Shirley from Charleston SC and has two daughters, Savanah Warren (Charlotte NC), Shelby Banta (Madison Miss)
