Jaynie L. Gaskin is a natural resources management professional with fifteen years of experience leading conservation initiatives, applied ecological research, and environmental education programs in coastal Georgia. Jaynie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Public Health from Agnes Scott College. Jaynie holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology from Georgia Southern University. Jaynie started her career in coastal conservation on St. Catherines Island with the Sea Turtle Conservation, Research and Education Program sponsored by Georgia Southern University. While with the Sea Turtle Program, she integrated wildlife education and ecological research into the conservation of Georgia’s sea turtles. Jaynie is extremely passionate about building long-term sustainability into conservation programs. In 2021, she joined the Georgia Coastal Management Program of the Coastal Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.  As a coastal wetlands specialist with the Georgia Coastal Management Program, Jaynie specialized in marsh health assessment, wetland restoration and tidal salt marsh mitigation. While with Coastal Management, she increased the wetlands program’s research and conservation capacity through partner recruitment, program promotion and grant writing. In 2025, Jaynie joined the Jekyll Island Authority as the Director of the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Jaynie is a strategic thinker who uses her creativity to address conservation challenges.
